Amaretto Sour

Everyone's got that one cool relative. The one that lets you have a little bit of fun when your parents aren't looking. For me it was my older cousin, Jeff. He was the one who first introduced me to the Amaretto Sour. We were at our grandpa's 80th birthday dinner. When the check came, our parents proceeded to fight over it as they always did and Jeff snuck me away to the bar. Thirty minutes and three drinks later they realized we were missing. At least we got some quality cousin bonding time in before our parents exploded at us. This cake is for you, Jeff.

 What is the difference?

Hi-Proof Ingredients:

Makes 6-12 individual servings 1 Family size package (13.7 oz) of Vanilla Hi-Proof Baking Mix 6 TBS of club soda or water 1/4 cup sour mix 1/2 cup amarertto FOR Two Under the Influence 1 TUI size package (4.6 oz) of Vanilla Hi-Proof Baking Mix 2 TBS of club soda or water 2 TBS of sour mix 2 TBS of amaretto


Hi-Proof Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine Vanilla Hi-Proof Baking Mix in a bowl with all the other ingredients. Mix until light and fluffy (at least 2 minutes - up to 4 minutes). Pour batter into molds. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until top sponges back. Remove from oven and optionally spray with amaretto.

Lo-Proof Ingredients:

Makes 12-24 individual servings 1 18 oz package of yellow cake mix 4 eggs 1/4 cup oil 1 3.5 oz pkg of instant vanilla pudding 1/2 cup sour mix 1/2 cup amarertto


Lo-Proof Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Beat eggs with a blender Add in all other ingredients Mix 4-5 minutes on medium to aerate the batter Spray molds with non-stick oil or line with baking cups Bake for 24-27 minutes until top sponges back NOTE: Smaller molds take less time Remove from oven and optionally spray with amaretto


Top with amaretto butter cream. Whip together 1 cup powdered sugar with 1 cup softened butter till it peaks. Add in 1 TBSP amaretto and 1 TSBP lemon juice then blend well. Apply to each sweet and top with a cherry. FOR Two Under the Influence Glaze: Mix 2 TBS of powdered sugar with 2 teaspoons of amaretto. Drizzle and enjoy.
